Thinking of You Week 2023
A greeting card from a friend or loved one can be very powerful, it can have much more meaning then many think.
A few weeks ago, we saw a post on Reddit that reminds us cards don't have to be fancy or expensive, they can be hand made, hand written or printed on a computer. The connection and meaning comes from the thought and care that has gone into taking the time to send the message.
"Thinking of You Week" is an annual event that encourages people to send greeting cards just to let others know they're thinking of them. It takes place during the last week of September, and it's all about fostering connections and brightening someone's day with the power of words and the joy of a receiving a card.
As a card publisher, obviously cards are very important to me. I always keep the special ones including the last Christmas and Birthday card I had from my late Mum.
I put them out every birthday and Christmas as a little reminder of her and the pride she took in choosing the right card (I come from a family of card senders). To me these are just as valuable as the voicemails from her I have saved.
Why Should You Send a Card?
Strengthen Relationships: In a digital age where messages often get lost in the noise, a physical greeting card stands out as a personal, meaningful gesture. It strengthens bonds and reminds your loved ones that you care.
Boost Positivity: Receiving a heartfelt card can lift spirits, bring smiles, and even turn a tough day around. Your words have the power to spread positivity and warmth.
Cherished Keepsakes: Just like the card from Grandma Rose, Greeting cards are more than pieces of paper; they're keepsakes that can be treasured for years. Your cards become lasting reminders of the moments you've shared with others.
Surprise and Delight: While cards are often associated with specific occasions, sending one just to say, "I am thinking of you" is unexpected and deeply touching. Surprise your friends and family with your thoughtfulness!
Remember, a card is not just a piece of paper; it's a message from the heart. You can find some cards that you may like to send this week in our Thinking of You collection.
If you want to find out more about the positivity and joy a little handwritten card can make you can read about the The Psychology of Sending Greetings Cards on the dedicated website celebrating the week from the Greeting Card Association.
Happy card-sending!
