It’s that time of year again!
Hello and welcome to my blog. It’s new. It won’t just be about cards – thankfully – but whatever takes my fancy. Think of it as good look inside my head and whatever is happening in there at any given moment.
This one is though as this weekend marks the final trade show of the year for me at London’s Olympia at Top Drawer. I mix and match my trade shows up a bit (there’s only so much you want to spend a year on cladding, electrics, carpet and bad catering) but this show is always one that is in the calendar. It was the first show I ever exhibited at back in 2000 and haven’t missed a show since. Oh how times (and hairstyles) have changed!
I never thought when I had my first little 2 x 2 metres stand in 2000 that I would still be exhibiting my cards (not the same designs :-)) sixteen years later. On much bigger stands too. I always try and keep the look of my stands fresh and changing, like I do with the cards that I produce. I’m liking the nice dark grey colour palette at the moment; it shows my cards off to good effect. I think my selfie skills have got better too.
It’s also reassuring to know that I’ve had loyal customers who visited me at my first show that still order today. Shops like Set, in Leicester and But is it Art in Reading and Joy all over the UK. I’ve always appreciated such loyalty and it’s customers like that that have meant I’ve been able to continue selling this smut and filth. Equally pleasing is knowing some of my fellow exhibitors from that very first show back in 2000 are still exhibiting, bigger and better every year. A big thumbs up to the lovely Sarah and Sara from Cinnamon Aitch!
Top Drawer is a trade only show and is held this weekend from Sunday 11th September to Tuesday 13th September at London Olympia. See you there on Stand ZB9.
